BISA Phase 2 Program - SAVE THE CHILDREN
Information about BISA Phase 2 Program in collaboration with SAVE THE CHILDREN

Save the Children Indonesia, in collaboration with Nutrition International and the Yayasan Jaringan Peduli Masyarakat (JPM), implemented the Better Investment for Stunting Alleviation (BISA) Program – Phase 2, which is a continuation of BISA Phase 1. The BISA Program focuses on integrated and nutrition-sensitive interventions. The program aims to reduce stunting by improving the nutritional status of adolescent girls, women of reproductive age, and children under two years old. BISA Phase 1 was implemented in two districts, namely Kupang District and North Central Timor (TTU) District. In 2023, BISA Phase 1 activities included Adolescent Nutrition and Handwashing with Soap (HWWS) campaigns. These programs were carried out in schools by trained field facilitators from Yayasan JPM, using school-based behavior change strategies delivered in engaging and creative ways to encourage student participation.
In 2024, Yayasan JPM implemented activities to provide handwashing with soap facilities in 20 schools in Kupang District and 11 schools in TTU District, covering a total of 31 schools in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). These schools were part of areas previously supported through projects implemented by Save the Children in partnership with Yayasan JPM. BISA Phase 2 focused on the development of HWWS facilities in the 31 targeted schools in Kupang and TTU Districts. The construction and reconstruction of water and handwashing facilities to support HWWS practices in schools were carried out in accordance with the finalized budget and agreements with the schools. Materials were distributed, and construction began with regular monitoring by JPM technical staff and field teams to ensure timely completion. Monitoring and final inspections were conducted by the Senior Project Officer and Logistics Officer to track progress in each school. After construction was completed, reporting and proper documentation were finalized. The program concluded with a handover ceremony held at one selected school, attended by representatives from the Education Office and the Health Office. The ceremony officially marked the handover of the facilities to schools and the Education Offices of Kupang District and TTU District, accompanied by proper documentation and publication.
