Sumba Education Digitalization Program – PLN UIW NTT
Information about Sumba Education Digitalization Program in collaboration with PLN UIW NTT

The Sumba Education Digitalization Program is a collaborative initiative between Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) NTT Region and Yayasan Jaringan Peduli Masyarakat (JPM). This program was developed in response to the significant challenges faced by the education sector in East Sumba and West Sumba Regencies, particularly the limited access to technology and internet connectivity. Through this initiative, PLN and JPM are committed to improving the quality of education by providing adequate technological equipment and expanding internet access. A total of 40 laptop units were distributed to SMKN 2 Waingapu and SMKN 1 Waikabubak, supported by internet facilities to ensure a more effective and efficient teaching and learning process. Beyond the provision of equipment, the program also included teacher training, technology socialization in schools, and continuous monitoring. These efforts aimed to strengthen the capacity of teachers and students to integrate technology into daily learning activities in line with the demands of the digital era. Implemented from June to July 2024, the program is expected to generate long-term positive impacts for school communities in Sumba. With the support of PLN NTT Region, the spirit of education digitalization in East and West Sumba is expected to continue growing, opening wider opportunities for young generations to compete at national and global levels. Ultimately, the program sought not only to improve access to devices and internet connectivity, but also to ensure better education quality through the effective use of technology. This initiative represents an important first step in bridging the digital divide and providing equal opportunities for all students in Sumba to achieve a brighter future.
